Created on 9 holes by British settlers in 1856 near the River Gave, the town hall of Pau asked the Scottish architect William Dunn Sr as early as 1860 to make an 18-hole one and install the current clubhouse. Play in the footsteps of Joe Lloyd, the British pro winner of the US Open1897.
In 1960, it unfed a complete renovation to improve its 18 holes by 5314 meters, by 69.
